Signs of damage and initial actions
If there are oil leaks around the edges of the oil sump in the direction of the cylinder block, it means that the gasket itself is no longer serviceable, and it must be replaced. This problem can be caused by insufficiently tightened mounting bolts. This can be caused by the fact that on a new car they were not tightened at the assembly stage. And on a used car, the bolts may have loosened during driving. Therefore, they need to be tightened. You need to do this carefully, because otherwise you can damage the head or break the threads.

Next you need to clean the oil pan from the remaining oil. Now you can continue to find out the cause of the leak. The gasket needs to be replaced if the oil continues to appear. If it happened on the road, you can get out of the situation with a sealant. But you need to remember that this measure is temporary, and once you get to your destination, it is imperative to begin repairing the gasket.

Removing the gasket
So, it is possible to proceed with the repair. It is necessary to use a pit or an elevator, if you have one. The further procedure is as follows.

From the crankcase remove the protection.

First it is necessary to remove oil from the engine. To prevent an air lock, unscrew the plug on the engine. Here you need to put a container to drain the oil. Now you need to unscrew the plug under the crankcase and wait for the oil to flow out.

It is very difficult to turn around under the bottom of the car, and this is necessary for the next steps. Therefore, you will have to lift the engine up a bit. To do this, you need to unscrew the fasteners of the engine cushions on both sides. To lift the motor, you need either a hand hoist or a cross-beam. Now unscrew the mounting bolts from the crankcase.

The sump is detached from the cylinder block using a screwdriver or any other suitable tool along with the gasket.

Installing the gasket

After 3 millimeters from the edge you need to apply a row of the same sealant. The sealant is put in place quickly and tightly, the same layer of sealant is applied on top. When tightening the pallet, remember that it is pressed against the cylinder block. After tightening all the nuts, be sure to check for protruding parts of the gasket.
